Birds, Flowers and Butterflies is a harpsichord recital combining historically informed performance with an audiovisual format. The programme evokes a garden of the French Baroque, where music imitates birdsong and sounds of nature.
It focuses on eighteenth-century French composers—Rameau, Couperin, Daquin, Duphly, and Dandrieu—whose character pieces unite elegance with pictorial expression. Miniatures such as Le Rappel des Oiseaux, Le Coucou, and Les Papillons create vivid musical images.
The recital presents the harpsichord as both a historical instrument and a narrative medium.
Performed on a copy of an eighteenth-century French harpsichord (Bruce Kennedy, Blanchet), the recording is complemented by subtle nature-inspired visuals and released online.
